WASHINGTON, November 2. /Dunyo IA/. The United States will hold midterm elections on November 3, in which Americans will elect all 435 members of the House of Representatives and 35 senators, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The elections will determine whether the Republican Party retains its majority in Congress. The results will affect President Donald Trump’s ability to implement his policies. If Republicans lose their majority in either chamber, Democrats will have greater opportunities to block White House initiatives and oversee the administration’s activities.
Republicans are focusing on Donald Trump’s economic policies, tax cuts, fighting crime and tightening immigration controls. In foreign policy, the party emphasizes U.S. national interests and stricter oversight of international spending.
Democrats are focusing on reducing the cost of living, improving access to housing and healthcare, protecting civil rights and strengthening congressional oversight of the presidential administration. They also support continued military assistance to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan.
The main battles for the House of Representatives are expected in competitive districts in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Texas, Ohio and Michigan. In the Senate, particular attention is focused on the Texas race, where Democrats have not won a Senate election since 1988.
Retaining their majority would allow Republicans to continue implementing Donald Trump’s agenda. If control of one or both chambers shifts to Democrats, the president will face greater resistance in passing legislation and pursuing domestic and foreign policy initiatives.
Thus, the midterm elections will serve as an important indicator of Americans’ attitudes toward the current administration and determine the balance of power in Washington ahead of the next presidential election in 2028.
