ROME, November 9. /Dunyo IA/. In the Italian capital, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Munira Aminova, held a meeting with the leadership of the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The parties discussed current cooperation and prospective areas of collaboration in research and innovation in the wheat sector. It was noted that, under existing agreements with CIMMYT, exchange and training programs have been implemented, including internships for specialists and young researchers from Uzbekistan at the center’s headquarters.
Appreciation was expressed to CIMMYT for conducting a comprehensive assessment of the wheat research and innovation system in Uzbekistan in 2025, and a readiness to further develop joint projects was reaffirmed, including the initiative "From Genetics to Grain: Advancing Innovation and Capacity in Uzbekistan’s Wheat Sector".
Participants of the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening cooperation to enhance crop yields, promote sustainable agricultural development, and strengthen food security.
