SAINT PETERSBURG, October 25. /Dunyo IA/. As part of efforts to promote national culture and literature, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan held an opening ceremony for an Uzbek Literature Corner to mark Uzbek Language Day, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event, organised by the diplomatic mission jointly with the management of a branch of the M.Yu.Lermontov Library, brought together representatives of the teaching community, cultural circles, compatriots and young readers.

During the ceremony, valuable printed publications and books in Uzbek and Russian were donated to the library’s collection. These included works from Gulchekhra-Begim Mahmudova’s renowned “Tale of the Spirit of the Ages” series, as well as books by Kristina Kretova, Madina Muminova, Nazifa Karimova and Raim Farkhadi. The publications are intended to familiarise the younger generation with Uzbekistan’s history, geography and rich cultural heritage.

Participants praised the high standard of organisation and emphasised the strategic importance of such humanitarian initiatives, which help preserve the Uzbek language, strengthen intercultural dialogue and deepen the traditionally friendly ties between the two peoples.
