TOKYO, October 15. /Dunyo IA/. Uzbekistan’s labour productivity data have been included for the first time in the “APO Productivity Databook”, an annual publication of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Alongside Uzbekistan, other four Central Asian countries have also been included in the publication. Their indicators are incorporated into a harmonized statistical framework, enabling comparative analysis across the 38 Asian economies covered by the study.
According to the data, Uzbekistan has recorded some of Asia’s strongest labour productivity growth. Between 2010 and 2024, GDP per employed person doubled, rising from US$14,400 to US$28,900. Over the full 2010–2024 period, the average annual growth rate stood at around 5%, placing Uzbekistan third among the 38 Asian economies, after China and Bangladesh.
Publication also highlights positive structural changes in the economy. In 2010, agriculture accounted for 26.8% of the economy, while industry represented 11.5%. By 2024, agriculture’s share had declined to 18.2%, while industry’s share had risen to 20.5%. According to representatives of the organization, these changes reflect the effectiveness of government measures to modernize the economy and develop the industrial sector.
