AMMAN, December 17. /Dunyo IA/. An event dedicated to the World Day of Turkic Languages was held in the capital of Jordan, coinciding with UNESCO’s designation of December 15 as World Day of the Turkic Language Family, reports Dunyo IA correspondent

The event took place at the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center and brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural circles, and Turkic diasporas residing in Jordan.

The choice of this date holds special historical significance, as it marks the deciphering of the Orkhon inscriptions in 1893 by Danish scholar Vilhelm Thomsen—a milestone in the study of the history and development of Turkic languages.

The program featured cultural and artistic performances highlighting the rich linguistic and cultural heritage of Turkic peoples. The Uzbek diaspora in Jordan presented a poetic composition and a folk dance, showcasing the uniqueness of Uzbek culture and its contribution to the broader Turkic heritage.

The event emphasized the important role of the Turkic language family in preserving historical memory, strengthening cultural ties, and fostering dialogue among the peoples of the Turkic world.
