WARSAW, November 4. /Dunyo IA/.   Polish financial and economic portal Bankier.pl has published an article entitled “Uzbekistan Embarks on Major Construction Projects: A New City for One Million Residents”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article reports on President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s decision to build New Karshi City in Kashkadarya Region. The city is initially designed to accommodate 500,000 residents, with its population expected to reach one million in the longer term. An area of 5,200 hectares, consisting predominantly of unused land and pastureland, has been allocated for the project.

According to the publication, regional government authorities are expected to relocate to the new city, which will also feature a congress centre, concert venues, hotels and a tourism complex with an aqua park, an artificial lake and a crafts zone. Foreign architecture firms are expected to be involved in the project.

Portal also notes that Kashkadarya Region is home to several Polish war cemeteries, including the largest in Uzbekistan, located in Guzar. Units of the Polish Army under the command of General Władysław Anders were formed there in 1942.

Publication also covers the construction of New Tashkent, which began in 2023. According to the Presidential Press Service, projects worth $2 billion have already been completed there, including residential buildings, university campuses, a library, an amphitheatre, a park and a school. In the longer term, the new city is expected to accommodate up to two million residents.
