SEOUL, December 18. /Dunyo IA/. A leading English-language newspaper in South Korea, “Seoul City”, has published an article focusing on the development of Uzbek-Japanese cooperation in the field of labour migration, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The article highlights the gradual establishment of the legal and institutional framework for Uzbek-Japanese cooperation in labour migration, beginning in 2019. Special attention is given to the launch of Japan’s “Specified Skilled Worker” (SSW) programme, the creation of testing and vocational training centers in Uzbekistan, and the expansion of contractual arrangements with leading Japanese companies and cooperatives.
It notes that between 2021 and 2025, cooperation reached a qualitatively new level through investments in human capital development, the opening of training centers offering Japanese language courses and instruction in in-demand professions, and the active involvement of the Japanese private sector. The coverage emphasizes the growing interest of Japanese employers in Uzbek specialists, who have earned a reputation as disciplined, hardworking, and highly adaptable professionals.
The article also highlights the launch in 2025 of the “Japan Career Portal”, supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which is the first project of its kind in Central Asia. The platform provides job seekers with direct access to vacancies, online testing, and educational resources, enhancing both the transparency and efficiency of employment processes.
In conclusion, the coverage underscores that Uzbek-Japanese cooperation in labor migration is regarded as a key component of the strategic partnership between the two countries, contributing not only to the creation of new jobs, but also to knowledge exchange, skills development, and the strengthening of long-term humanitarian and economic ties.
