Initiatives of Uzbekistan to provide New Impetus to Turkic World Integration

BAKU, November 4. /Dunyo IA/.   Azerbaijani newspaper “Ədəbiyyat və incəsənət” (“Literature and Art”) has published an article highlighting Uzbekistan’s key initiatives put forward at the 13th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Ankara, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Article notes that the Turkic countries, located in a strategically important part of Eurasia, possess considerable economic and transit potential. One of the organization’s priorities remains making effective use of these opportunities, particularly by developing transport corridors linking East and West.

Particular attention is given to the proposals put forward by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to strengthen partnership among the Turkic states and enhance the effectiveness of the organization’s activities.

In particular, the Head of State proposed establishing the “Organization of Turkic States Plus” format to expand cooperation with third countries. He also put forward initiatives to protect the rights of entrepreneurs, improve mechanisms for mutual legal assistance in commercial matters and establish an electronic document exchange platform.

Article also highlights Uzbekistan’s initiative to declare 2027 the “Year of Nature Protection” within the framework of the OTS, which received support. This is expected to give fresh impetus to environmental cooperation and joint efforts by the Turkic states to mitigate the effects of climate change.

In addition, publication notes the support expressed for the candidacy of Uzbekistan’s representative, Mirvokhid Azimov, for the post of Secretary General of the OTS. Another important decision was to hold the organization’s next summit in Uzbekistan in 2027.

“Ankara Summit created important opportunities to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation among the Turkic states, deepen economic integration and elevate regional partnership to a new level”, Azerbaijani publication concludes.
