National Human Rights Center of Uzbekistan and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees sign Joint Work Plan for 2026

TASHKENT, June 9. /Dunyo IA/. Today, a meeting was held between the Director of the National Center of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (NHRC), Akmal Saidov and the Regional Representative of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Central Asia, Mahir Safarli, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation in the protection of the rights of refugees, asylum-seekers and stateless persons, as well as ways to further strengthen institutional cooperation between the NCHR and UNHCR.

Following the meeting, the Joint Work Plan for 2026 between the National Center of Uzbekistan for Human Rights (NHRC) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was signed.

The document defines the priority areas of joint activity for the coming period, including the improvement of national legislation and law-enforcement practice, awareness-raising and capacity-building, as well as the promotion of international standards in the protection of the rights of the relevant categories of persons. The parties expressed their readiness to further develop a constructive partnership and to effectively implement the agreements reached.
