ASTANA, October 13. /Dunyo IA/. Kazakhstan’s “Infozakon.kz” news outlet has published an article entitled “The 11^th Tashkent International Biennale of Contemporary Art to Be Held in Uzbekistan’s Capital on October 12–16^th”, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the publication, this year’s biennale is themed “Event Horizon”. Leading museums and galleries in Tashkent are showcasing works by international and Uzbek artists. The programme also includes a trip to Samarkand, allowing visitors to explore both contemporary art and Uzbekistan’s historical and cultural heritage during a single journey.

Biennale has been held every two years since 2001. The concept of this year’s event centers on reflecting on the human condition amid technological and cultural transformations. Tashkent, historically situated at the crossroads of ancient caravan routes, is presented in the biennale’s concept as an “oasis” symbolizing hope and the search for new meanings.

Opening ceremony took place on October 12^th at the Central Exhibition Hall. In the following days, exhibitions are being presented at the Tashkent House of Photography, Kamoliddin Behzod Museum of Oriental Miniature Art, Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan and Ikuo Hirayama International Caravanserai of Culture.

In addition to exhibitions, program features art performances, master classes and an international scientific and practical conference. A special place is given to the “Charxpalak” exhibition, dedicated to the 35^th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence. The biennale is scheduled to conclude on October 16^th.
