Eldiyor Toshmatov, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, participated in an informal meeting of Central Asian health ministers with Hans Kluge, Director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Europe, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the World Health Assembly.
The meeting primarily focused on coordinating the next steps for the official adoption and launch of the “Roadmap for Health and Well-being in Central Asia for 2026–2030” as the key regional platform for healthcare cooperation.
In his speech, Hans Kluge emphasized that holding the meeting in 2026 - declared the Year of Healthcare in the CIS during Uzbekistan's presidency of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Health - creates favorable conditions for the further development of regional healthcare interaction, the promotion of joint initiatives by Central Asian countries and the strengthening of practical multilateral cooperation.
During the event, the heads of the ministries of health of Central Asian countries exchanged views on the official adoption of the “road map” coordination of further steps at the regional level and prospects for cooperation with international partners.
Following the discussions, the meeting participants reached an agreement on the official adoption of the specified “road map” within the framework of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Health Care, the next meeting of which is scheduled for October 2026 in Uzbekistan.
