Uzbekistan and Pakistan target Accelerated Implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway Corridor

ISLAMABAD, July 13. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev, met with the Secretary of the Ministry of Railways of Pakistan, Mazhar Ali Shah, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Parties discussed the development of cooperation in railway transport and the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway project.
Particular attention was focused on accelerating the preparation of the project's feasibility study (FS) and transitioning to its practical execution. The sides also discussed joint transport and logistics projects alongside the integration of digital solutions to enhance cargo transportation efficiency.
Mazhar Ali Shah stated that the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway project serves the best interests of the region's nations, enabling the expansion of freight traffic and strengthening transport connectivity between Central and South Asia.
Uzbek side announced the completion of organizational preparations to commence field surveys.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold an online session involving specialists from the participating countries to accelerate the project's execution.
