Uzbekistan and Sweden signed an intergovernmental agreement on comprehensive partnership in the field of migration and mobility

• 62ТАSHKENT, June 10. /Dunyo IA/. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Muzaffar Madrakhimov met today with the State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Sweden Diana Janse, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the MFA, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden in the fields of political dialogue, trade and economic relations, investment, migration, education, innovation, pharmaceuticals, industry, agriculture, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
The importance of continuing regular consultations between the foreign ministries and expanding interparliamentary contacts was emphasized during the meeting.
During the discussion of trade and economic cooperation, the parties considered issues related to increasing bilateral trade turnover and expanding the participation of Swedish companies in priority sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy.
The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of migration, emphasizing the importance of ensuring safe, orderly and regular migration, creating new opportunities for labor migration, improving consular services provided to migrants, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at protecting human rights.
Following the meeting, the following bilateral documents were signed:
– Agreement between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden on a Comprehensive Partnership in the Field of Migration and Mobility;
– Joint Declaration of Understanding between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Kingdom of Sweden on the Establishment of a Pilot Programme on Migration and Mobility aimed at facilitating legal migration and academic exchanges.
