A football tournament with the participation of compatriots was held in Malaysia

• 90KUALA LUMPUR, June 24. /Dunyo IA/. Embassy of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with representatives of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, has organized the “Youth Cup – 2026” football tournament, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The tournament among compatriots was dedicated to the Uzbekistan national team's participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and to Youth Day, celebrated nationwide on June 30.
Students from various Malaysian higher education institutions took part in the event. Over ten teams made up of Uzbek students vied for the championship title.
At the conclusion of the tournament, the City University Malaysia team claimed the championship title. Second and third places were secured by representatives from UCSI University and Xiamen University Malaysia, respectively. The winners and podium finishers received cups and diplomas.
In the course of the event, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Karomiddin Gadoev acquainted the attendees with ongoing national reforms in youth policy and sports, highlighting the expanding opportunities for the comprehensive development of the younger generation.
To wrap up the event, a traditional Uzbek dastarkhan was laid out for the participants and guests. The attendees extended their thanks for the care shown toward compatriots abroad and stressed the value of sustaining such initiatives.
Farkhod Akhunov, representing the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, remarked that the tournament took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere, underlining how crucial such events are for boosting patriotic spirit and unity among fellow citizens.
