NEW YORK, October 16. /Dunyo IA/.  A cultural festival dedicated to the upcoming celebration of Uzbek Language Day on October 21st was held in New York, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was organized by the non-governmental organization “Turan American Heritage Association” with the participation of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in New York.

Festival brought together representatives of the Uzbek, Kazakh, Tajik, Turkmen, and Azerbaijani communities, cultural figures, entrepreneurs, youth and families of compatriots.

One of the central events of the festival was a theatrical performance based on Alisher Navoi’s epic poem “Farhad and Shirin”. Presentation introduced the guests to Uzbek classical literature and underscored the significance of preserving the native language among the younger generation.

As part of the festival, the international exhibition of youth creativity between the US and Uzbekistan, titled “Dialogue Across the Ocean – A Youth Perspective”, was also inaugurated. The exposition featured 35 drawings by American children dedicated to the history, culture, and traditions of Uzbekistan, serving as a platform for cultural exchange between the younger generations of the two nations.

Program included national songs and dances, performances by creative groups, traditional sports competitions, and a demonstration of national costumes. Guests also familiarized themselves with the cultural heritage of the peoples of Central Asia.

Special attention was paid to the tourism potential of Uzbekistan. Visitors were presented with historical cities, architectural monuments, national traditions and landmarks of the country, aimed at increasing interest in travel to Uzbekistan among the American public and representatives of various national communities.

In addition to the cultural program, diaspora representatives, entrepreneurs and public organizations discussed matters regarding employment, social adaptation, and mutual support for compatriots in the USA. Participants exchanged experiences and established contacts for further cooperation.
