Uzbekistan–U.S. Forum on advancing transport and logistics cooperation held in Washington

WASHINGTON, October 2. /Dunyo IA/.  Capital of the United States hosted the inaugural Uzbek-American Transport and Logistics Forum, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

Event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan to the United States in cooperation with “IT Park Uzbekistan”. The forum was attended by the heads of more than 70 transport, logistics, trucking, dispatch and BPO companies founded by citizens of Uzbekistan residing and conducting business activities in the United States.

At the beginning of the event, it was noted that the United States is the primary export market for services provided by “IT Park Uzbekistan” resident companies, with the American market accounting for 54% of the total export volume. Currently, more than 550 “IT Park” residents provide services to American companies, ensuring employment for over 16,000 specialists. In 2025, the volume of service exports to the United States reached $320 million.

It was emphasized that the transport companies established by compatriots in the United States have accumulated significant practical experience and possess high economic potential. In this regard, the necessity of systematic work to leverage their experience and potential to create new jobs in Uzbekistan, introduce modern approaches to management and logistics, develop BPO services, as well as expand the export of services and attract investments was highlighted.

In particular, the opportunities for relocating specific operational functions of American companies to Uzbekistan - such as dispatch services, call centers, back-office operations, accounting support, IT and other sectors—were presented. This will enable American companies to optimize costs while simultaneously generating new jobs in Uzbekistan and increasing the volume of service exports.

Within the framework of the forum, dedicated interactive sessions were held focusing on ensuring the sustainable operation of transport and logistics companies, implementing modern management practices and mitigating legal and operational risks.

Representatives of the competent authorities of Uzbekistan, “IT Park Uzbekistan”, and logistics companies operating in the United States participated in the discussions. The participants addressed matters concerning prompt response to problem situations that may arise within the industry, enhancing information exchange between companies and the effective utilization of practical experience.

Particular attention was paid to the recently increased cases of legal violations within the industry, as well as the risks associated with cyberattacks on information systems. Representatives of the Embassy, “IT Park Uzbekistan” and executives of leading logistics companies operating in the United States provided company managers with practical recommendations on preventing such threats, strengthening internal security measures, regularly upgrading employees' knowledge and skills in the field of cybersecurity, as well as ensuring a timely response to suspicious situations.

During the event, an initiative was put forward to establish a professional association uniting transport and logistics companies founded by Uzbek entrepreneurs in the United States. It was noted that the creation of such a structure would facilitate continuous dialogue and information exchange among industry representatives, as well as provide an additional impetus to the systematic development of investment and export projects in Uzbekistan.

Following the event, an agreement was reached to establish channels for exchanging information and practical experience among Uzbek logistics companies operating in the United States, to respond promptly to emerging issues within the industry, and, where necessary, to coordinate efforts with relevant organizations.

Furthermore, a joint working group was formed to systematically engage in expanding the export of BPO and outsourcing services from Uzbekistan to the US market, relocating specific operational functions of American logistics companies to Uzbekistan, strengthening direct interaction with residents of “IT Park Uzbekistan”, and developing new collaborative projects.

An agreement was also reached to strengthen direct ties between the Uzbek logistics business in the United States and young specialists in Uzbekistan, to launch professional educational and advanced training programs and to more broadly integrate modern American experience into the logistics sector of Uzbekistan.
