TASHKENT, October 14. / IA "Dunyo" /. Yesterday at the UN General Assembly by votes of 169 states, Uzbekistan was first elected for a three-year term to the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), reports IA “Dunyo” correspondent.
"Election to the UN Human Rights Council is an important moment for Uzbekistan," Tim Torlot, the British Ambassador to our country, wrote on his Twitter page today. - This is an opportunity to demonstrate international leadership and demonstrate a commitment to continuing human rights reform– especially on torture, media and religious freedom, civil society. The UK is ready to support this work".
