Cooperation with France enhances

TASHKENT, November 22. /“Dunyo” IA/. Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjayev met with the leadership of the French Ministry of Commerce and large French companies to discuss measures for further development of cooperation, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The current state of trade-economic and investment cooperation, including the implementation of major projects in energy, water and heat supply, geology was discussed at the meeting with the Minister-Delegate for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad, Chairman of Uzbekistan – France Business Council Olivier Becht. An agreement was reached to expand the range of mutual trade through the supply of chemical and textile products, metal, glass, food and other goods, including through the GSP+ system.

A high level of partnership was noted during the conversation with the CEO of the French Development Agency Rémy Rioux. An agreement was reached on enhancing cooperation with FTA PROPARCO and Expertise France, as well as on signing a Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the French Development Agency for 2023-2025.

At the meeting with EDF leadership, the progress of the implementation of current projects in Syrdarya and Surkhandarya regions was discussed. Representatives of the company expressed interest in implementing new projects with a total capacity of 1,250 MW in the development of alternative energy sources in Tashkent and Navoi regions.

At the meeting with the Chairman and CEO of SUEZ Sabrina Soussan, organizational aspects of projects for the modernization of the water supply system of the city of Tashkent and Surkhandarya region were discussed. The prospect of spreading the French experience to the development of the water supply system in other regions of Uzbekistan was considered. The parties also agreed to continue work on enhancing the partnership, assuming the company's participation in the modernization of the city heating system and solid waste management.

The project of laying the Yakkabog – Karshi main water pipeline was also considered at the meeting with EIFFAGE company’s leadership. The length of the pipeline is 82 km, there are 4 water storage tanks. The parties agreed to take measures to accelerate the implementation of the project.
