VIENNA, September 21. /IA “Dunyo”/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Austria has organized an evening entitled «Heritage of the Great Silk Road», reports the correspondent of “Dunyo” IA.
The event was dedicated to the role of Central Asian countries in development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between the East and West. It was attended by representatives of government, academic and public circles, international organizations and diplomatic missions of foreign states accredited in Austria.
At the evening, were held media presentations of the historical significance of such cities of Uzbekistan as Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and Fergana, which for many centuries were the heart of the Great Silk Road and united Asia and Europe through trade, exchange of cultural and spiritual values.
Participants of the event noted the invaluable contribution of the cities of Uzbekistan to the development and prosperity of the Great Silk Road – one of the remarkable achievements of ancient civilizations, which for the first time in the history of mankind connected various countries and peoples from the Mediterranean to the Pacific Ocean.
There was also organized an exhibition of works of art by domestic artists, Uzbek artisans’ products on miniature painting, artistic coinage and tailoring of national suzans, as well as a tasting of samples of national cuisine.
The handmade works of Uzbek masters, the incomparable beauty of Margilan adras and silk satin made using ancient technologies, as well as the unique Uzbek cuisine were received with great enthusiasm and warmth.
