TASHKENT, February 8. /“Dunyo” IA/. For the first time in the history of Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov has been elected the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Development Bank Group, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to MIFT, last October Sardor Umurzakov was elected Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Islamic Development Bank Group, which includes the Islamic Research & Training Institute (IRTI), Islamic Corporation for Development of the Private Sector (ICD), Islamic Corporation for Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC) and International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC), was founded in 1974 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The present membership of the IsDB consists of 57 countries. The key area of activity is the financing of large infrastructure and socially significant projects in strategic sectors of economy.
