Experts from OSCE/ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission to arrive in Tashkent

TASHKENT, July 18. /“Dunyo” IA/. Tomorrow, experts from the ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission will arrive in Tashkent in connection with the upcoming referendum on the draft Constitutional Law “On introducing amendments and addenda to the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.


According to the Central Election Commission, the goal of the mission, which will work until July 22, is to get acquainted with the organization of work on the preparation and holding of the referendum, as well as to analyze the compliance of national legislation on the referendum with generally accepted international standards.

The OSCE/ODIHR will make a decision on the advisability of observing the upcoming referendum, its format, duration and the required number of observers.

During the visit, the experts will meet with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, several other ministries and agencies, and the media.
