TASHKENT, March 29. /“Dunyo” IA/. JSC National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the purchase of electricity with a consortium of foreign companies consisting of EDF (France), Nebras Power (Qatar) and Sojitz (Japan), reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to the Ministry of Energy, within its framework it is planned to implement the investment project “Construction of a combined-cycle thermal power plant with a capacity of 1600 MW in Syrdarya region”.
The document was signed by the Vice-President of the consortium, Béatrice Buffon, and the Chairman of the Board of the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan, Dadajon Isakulov, as part of the recent Tashkent International Investment Forum.
The project provides for the construction of a modern H-class combined cycle gas turbine power plant (TPP) on an area of 55 hectares in the city of Shirin, Syrdarya region. Commissioning of the TPP is planned for January 2026.
The new TPP will produce 12 billion kWh per year. The efficiency of the thermal power plant will exceed 60 percent, which will save 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
