Issues of ensuring gender equality and sustainable development were considered in Tashkent


TASHKENT, October 20. /“Dunyo” IA/. Today, an international round table on the topic “gender equality and sustainable development” in online-offline form was held in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of the commission on gender equality issues of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of local support and family, political parties, the academic community and analytical centers of the country, non-profit organizations, as well as international experts and foreign diplomatic corps accredited in our country, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event was organized by the Center for Sustainable Development, the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Institute of the state and Law of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with UNESCO.

The objectives of the international round table were to discuss the issues of achieving "ensuring gender equality and expanding the rights and opportunities of all women and girls", to develop proposals and practical recommendations for the solution of gender problems in our society by studying the issues of ensuring gender identity in Uzbekistan.

The main tasks of the international round table were to inform the general public about favorable political, legal, institutional and organizational conditions created to ensure gender equality and increase women's status in Uzbekistan, analysis of our national legislation and international standards in the field of gender equality at all stages of Public Administration, the development of Uzbekistan's policy of achieving gender equality and ensuring fundamental rights of women and in the process of its effective implementation, identify the main tasks, legal norms and established procedures for women in all spheres of society and public administration, development and implementation of important and significant projects to achieve gender equality and full provision of women's rights at all stages of Public Administration in Uzbekistan in accordance with the universally recognized international standards in this field.

Following the results of the round table, a final document was adopted, which includes a number of proposals and recommendations aimed at increasing the role and position of women in addressing the pressing issues of effective development in all spheres of modernization of the new Uzbekistan, ensuring full-fledged gender equality and taking into account effective foreign normative-legal and intentional, organizational experience in accordance with international standards of this sphere.
