TASHKENT, August 3. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev met with the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan Roli Asthana, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
Issues of cooperation within the framework of the implementation of approved projects to improve living standards in the Aral Sea region, as well as prospects for the development of cooperation within the framework of the UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region were discussed at the meeting.
The parties considered the implementation of the multilateral roadmap to ensure the ecological balance and socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region, adopted to implement the Resolution of the UN General Assembly on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovation and technology. The document includes 14 priority areas and 230 project proposals worth $210 million.
The parties discussed the importance of further mobilization of investments in the region and prospects for expanding the activities of the Trust Fund.
