TASHKENT, August 14. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with athletes and coaches who participated in the XXXII Summer Olympic Games, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the press service of the head of our state, the event was also attended by the heads of the National Olympic Committee and sports federations, parents of athletes, representatives of state and public organizations.

The Head of the state congratulated everyone on the great success of Uzbekistan National Team.

As is known, the recent Olympic Games were held from July 23 to August 8 in Tokyo, Japan. 71 representatives of Uzbekistan participated in competitions in 17 sports, which is the highest figure in the history of domestic sports.

Necessary conditions were created for athletes and coaches both before and during the competition. They won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals, taking 32nd place among more than 200 countries, second place among the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and first place in Central Asia. Uzbekistan athletes also broke 3 Olympic records.

The first gold medal was brought to the national team by 19-year-old taekwondo athlete Ulugbek Rashidov, who became the youngest Olympic champion of the country.

Weightlifter Akbar Jurayev set an Olympic record, lifting a total of 430 kilograms, and won the second gold medal.

The talented boxer Bakhodir Jalolov fulfilled his promise to the President and won the Olympic Games, performing in the heavyweight category.

Bronze medals were won by promising representatives of the national school of martial arts – judoka Davlat Bobonov and freestyle wrestler Bekhzod Abdurakhmanov.

The President thanked the parents and coaches of these athletes.

“Such great achievements are possible only for such a generation, in whose veins the power and energy of our great ancestors, such as Jaloliddin Manguberdi, Amir Temur, Pakhlavon Mahmud, Zakhiriddin Babur, pulsates, such a generation that is worthy of these great names in all respects”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The progressive development of women's sports in Uzbekistan was noted with satisfaction. This is evidenced by the participation of 28 Uzbekistan athletes in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, which became a record in the history of independent Uzbekistan.

The Head of the state emphasized the merits of our world-famous gymnast Oksana Chusovitina, who performed at the Olympic Games in gymnastics 8 times in a row. This result, unique for the world sport, is listed in the Guinness World Records. Therefore, her participation is recognized as one of the important events of the Tokyo Olympics.

“We are rightfully proud of such legendary athletes. Her courage and will to win serve as a kind of school of high achievements and glory for young athletes”, the President said.

Oksana Chusovitina was awarded the title of “Honored Coach of the Republic of Uzbekistan” for her love and devotion to the Motherland, dedication in sports, unyielding will and perseverance.

The Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to create a sports school of Oksana Chusovitina and Bakhodir Jalolov.

The Head of the state also mentioned 18-year-old Zaynab Dayibekova, the first participant in the Olympic fencing competitions in the history of the county, as well as 19-year-old Kumushkhon Fayzullayeva, the youngest participant in weightlifting competitions.

“As you can see, the brave athletes of Uzbekistan boldly enter the international arena. We all sincerely admire them. At the same time, I want to tell our boys: if you don't work hard, the girls will soon beat you”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

As is known, in Uzbekistan, a reward of $200 thousand is established for winners, $100 thousand for silver and $50 thousand for bronze medalists of the Olympic Games.

The Head of the state stressed the huge role of coaches in preparing athletes for competitions. In this regard, the coaches of the Olympic champions will receive $40,000 as a reward, and the coaches of the bronze medalists will receive $20,000 each.

To participate in the Olympics is also a success, for which an athlete goes through a complex process of many years of training, devotes himself to this cause. With this in mind, it was decided to award athletes participating in the Olympics with a cash prize of $5,000.

The tasks for preparing for Paris 2024 Olympics were also identified.

It was instructed, with the involvement of an international sports management company, to conduct an audit of each link of the sports sphere and take measures based on its results to further improve the management system of sports, sports institutions and sports federations.

The importance of winning Olympic licenses in team sports, not limited to martial arts was noted.

The main attention was paid to improving the quality of sports education, introducing modern methods and practices, selecting and training talented athletes.

“It is necessary to bring from abroad not legionnaires, but leading specialists and methods of training athletes”, the President said.

It was instructed to completely review the quotas for admission to colleges of the Olympic reserve and improve their educational activities.

There are 329 sports schools in the country. They employ more than 13 thousand coaches. Over 328 thousand young people are engaged in more than 30 sports. However, not all of these schools work effectively. Some of them have not brought up a single national champion.

In this regard, it is necessary to introduce a system of state orders for each sports school, paying special attention to training boys and girls with sports categories and titles.

The low level of national championships and the lack of competition were noted. Teams from the regions are not sufficiently represented at the championships in gaming sports. Federations are content with holding championships with the participation of only 4-5 teams.

In this regard, instructions were given to improve the structure of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the system of organizing competitions in team sports.

The importance of improving the physical, medical-psychological training and pharmacological support of athletes, as well as the use of scientific approaches and traditional medicine along with advanced foreign experience, was emphasized. The task was set to equip the Republican Scientific-Practical Center of Sports Medicine with modern equipment, to create departments of sports psychology and dietetics.

Measures have been identified to encourage winners of Youth and Junior World Championships, as well as their coaches.

The need for fully digitalizing the system of selection of young talents and holding championships, developing a sports platform for the Olympic reserve was noted.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan of August 12, a group of athletes and coaches who achieved high results at the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo were awarded honorary titles, they were awarded medals and orders.

The solemn awarding ceremony of these high awards has taken place.

The athletes and coaches, as well as parents who addressed the event, thanked the Head of the state for the high trust and attention.
