TASHKENT, September 21. /"Dunyo" IA/. Uzbekistan exports Quva pomegranates to South Korea, China, Russia, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, reports correspondent of “Dunyo” IA according to the Uzbekistan National News Agency.
To date, more than 3 thousand tons of pomegranates ripened in Fergana gardens have been exported.
Since ancient times, pomegranates have been considered as a huge source of income, a rare and healing boon. The beneficial properties are recognized by bоth modern medicine and traditional healers. There is a high demand for this fruit in the world market. Therefore, special attention is paid to the expansion of pomegranate plantings, the creation of high-yielding and early maturing varieties. To date, 1,400 hectares of new pomegranate orchards have been created in Rishtan and Oltiarik districts.
By 2025, the pomegranate sown area in the region will reach 20 thousand hectares and more than 200 thousand tons of pomegranates will be grown annually. This will allow to export over 120 thousand tons per season.
