Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan holds talks with Italian Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Yemen

TASHKENT, May 13. /“Dunyo” IA/. Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev held talks with the Italian Special Envoy for Afghanistan and Yemen Gianfranco Petruzzella, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the parties discussed the efforts of Uzbekistan and Italy to peacefully resolve the Afghan crisis, provide humanitarian and other assistance to the country as soon as possible.

Mr. Gianfranco Petruzzella highly appreciated Uzbekistan's assistance in restoring the economy of Afghanistan, providing humanitarian assistance to this country, expressing readiness to continue to actively cooperate with the Uzbek side in establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The parties exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan, the development of a consolidated position of the international community, both concerning the new authorities of the country and the prevention of a humanitarian crisis in the country.

The mutual interest of Uzbekistan and Italy in continuing consultations on Afghan issues was expressed.
