TASHKENT, July 26. /“Dunyo” IA/. Today, Tashkent will host the International Conference “Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development” on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The event will gather special representatives for Afghanistan of more than 20 states of Central and South Asia, Europe, America, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific region directly involved in the Afghan settlement, heads and specialists of a dozen international and regional organizations, including the UN, the European Union, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Economic Cooperation Organization, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, as well as the delegation of Interim Government of Afghanistan.
The forum will also be attended by domestic experts, scientists and researchers, heads and experts of leading analytical centers of Afghanistan's neighboring countries, including from all Central Asian countries, Russia, the United States, Iran, Pakistan, India and Belgium. Among the invited think tanks are such structures as the Observer Research Foundation, the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (India), the Center for Global and Strategic Studies, Islamabad Policy Research Institute (Pakistan), Central Asia-Caucasus Institute (United States), the institutes for strategic studies under the presidents of Central Asian countries and others.
Issues of socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan, the implementation of infrastructure and humanitarian projects designed to bring long-awaited peace to the current and future generations of the Afghan people will be considered.
The upcoming conference is an integral part of Uzbekistan's systemic efforts to ensure security and stability in Central Asia and transform Afghanistan into a peaceful, prosperous country free from terrorism and wars.
