TASHKENT, April 23. /“Dunyo” IA/. Yesterday, a roundtable discussion has been held on “Further actions taken by Uzbekistan for the development of civil society” within the framework of the II International Legal Forum “Tashkent Law Spring”, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The participants noted that civil society institutions, including NGOs, are one of the key pillars for the implementation of changes.
As a result of the adopted legislative measures in Uzbekistan, NGOs are taking ever stronger positions in public construction, becoming a full partner of the state, and their number is increasing at a consistent pace.
Over the past four years, activities have been carried out to radically improve, develop and simplify the activities of NGOs, seven regulations have been adopted, providing for the improvement, development and simplification of the activities of NGOs, increasing the role of civil society institutions.
Over the past four years, 117 billion UZS have been allocated from the state budget to support more than 1,270 projects of NGOs and other civil society institutions.
The participants exchanged views and discussed the areas of activity of NGOs in such areas as:
- public control in combating human trafficking;
- legal protection of labor migrants;
- legal protection of women under violence;
- index of openness of NGO activities.
The participants of the event were informed about the experience of Germany, Slovenia and the EU in the development of civil society, the procedure for the cooperation of NGOs with the parliament and the government.
The roundtable discussion was attended by representatives of Uzbekistan Parliament, government organizations, civil society institutions, the media and international institutions.
