TASHKENT, July 31. /“Dunyo” IA/. On July 29, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov met with the Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
According to the Uzbekistan MFA, Minister of External Affairs of India highly appreciated the results of the SCO Council of Ministers Meeting held on July 29 in Tashkent, expressing gratitude to the Uzbek side for holding this event at a high organizational and substantive level. He assured that India fully supports Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the SCO and is ready to assist in preparing for the upcoming Samarkand Summit of the Organization.
Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stressed that for India, Uzbekistan is a key partner in the region, the expansion of ties with which is among the foreign policy priorities of New Delhi. It was noted that the positive dynamics of the development of Uzbekistan – India relations play an important role in strengthening the connectivity between Central and South Asia.
The parties considered proposals to enhance collaboration in education, including the opening of branches of leading Indian universities in Uzbekistan.
The schedule of the upcoming joint events at various levels was discussed.
