The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and Great Britain shall enter into force on May 1


TASHKENT, April 29. /IA “Dunyo”/. The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, signed on October 31, 2019, shall enter into force on May 1, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

It has been ratified in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan №-686 dated April 26, 2021,

By mutual agreement of the Parties and in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement, this document has been applied provisionally since January 15, 2021.

The Agreement consists of a preamble, 87 articles, 4 annexes and a Protocol on Mutual Assistance in Customs Affairs.

The main goal of the international treaty is to preserve the legal basis of Uzbek-British relations after the UK's exit from the European Union and to create favorable conditions for the further continuous development of Uzbek-British multifaceted relations.

The Agreement is aimed at developing relations in the fields of politics, trade, economics, investment, finance, culture, protection of intellectual property rights, education, science and technology, agriculture, energy, transport, health care, environment and tourism.

The Partnership and Cooperation Agreement establishing a partnership between the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the one hand, and the European Communities and their member states, on the other, (Florence, June 21, 1996) terminated on December 31, 2020 with respect to the United Kingdom.
