TASHKENT, February 16. /“Dunyo” IA/. The International Cultural Forum “Central Asia at the crossroads of Civilizations” will be held in Khiva with the support of UNESCO, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

UNESCO believes that the forum will provide another opportunity to study and promote the common culture and heritage of this region.

“The city of Khiva in Uzbekistan, where the forum will take place, is one of the oldest cities on the Silk Road. It was the center of education, science and culture and served as the cradle of civilizations for thousands of years, and the inner city of the ancient oasis of Khiva, Ichan-Kala was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990”, UN News reports. “Ichan-Kala served as the last stop for the caravans before crossing the desert on the way to Iran”.

The city is recognized as an integral and well-preserved complex of Central Asian Islamic architecture, which includes the Juma mosque, mausoleums, madrasahs, as well as palaces built by Allakulikhan in the early 19th century.
