Uzbekistan and Estonia develop inter-university cooperation


RIGA, November 10. /Dunyo IA/. Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Estonia, residing in Riga, Kadambay Sultanov, has met with the Rector of the University of Tartu Toomas Asser, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The parties discussed prospects for enhancing Uzbekistan – Estonia inter-university cooperation.

Thomas Asser provided detailed information about the University. According to him, the University of Tartu was founded in 1632 and is one of the oldest universities in Northern and Eastern Europe, the best educational institution in the Baltic States. University is in the top 1% of the best universities in the world by Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the top five universities in Central and Eastern Europe by the Quacquarelli Symonds Emerging Europe and Central Asia University Rankings, top 1% most-cited scientific and educational institutions in the world in 10 fields of science by Thomson Reuters Essential Science Indicators (ESI).

Rector of the university has shown interest in partnership with a number of scientific and education institutions of Uzbekistan, specializing in mathematics and engineering.

An agreement was reached to work out the issue of holding a videoconference between the University of Tartu and a number of profiling universities in Uzbekistan in order to discuss the practical aspects of developing long-term inter-university cooperation.
