Uzbekistan, Japan discuss the prospects of developing cooperation

TOKYO, April 19. /“Dunyo” IA/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan, together with the Kansai Economic Federation and Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held an investment business forum and a briefing for Japanese companies on the decision of the Cotton Campaign to end the global boycott of Uzbek cotton, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.


The events were held online and offline. They were attended by representatives of the prefecture, metropolitan economic organizations, as well as over 150 Japanese businesspeople.

Jun Takahashi, Head of the JETRO Representative Office in Uzbekistan, addressed the event and informed the participants about the positive changes taking place in Uzbekistan in all areas, the favorable conditions created for doing business, as well as the successful activities of Japanese companies in Uzbekistan.

As noted during the briefing, the lifting of the cotton boycott will help 1,196 Uzbekistan textile enterprises increase the volume of exports of Uzbekistan’s products to foreign countries, including Japan, and create new jobs. According to forecasts, after the lifting of restrictions and as a result of the processing of raw materials, it is possible to additionally export finished products worth $1.5 billion.
