TASHKENT, August 9. /“Dunyo” IA/. In the final round of the World Chess Olympiad, Uzbekistan defeated the Netherlands and became the winner of the tournament, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
After 11 rounds in a competition of 186 teams represented by more than 900 players, Uzbekistan has won the 44th Chess Olympiad.
The event took place in Chennai, India.
In today’s matches, Nodirbek Yakubboev (2,620), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (2,688) and Javokhir Sindarov (2,629) scored a draw. In the decisive match, 27-year-old experienced Jakhongir Vakhidov (2,564) beat 20-year-old Max Warmerdam (2,610) and secured a total score of 2.5-1.5.
Following the game, the Uzbek team retained first place in the tournament table with 19 points. The main opponent, Armenia, also defeated earlier the representatives of Spain and increased the number of points to 19, but remained in second place due to additional indicators.
It is noteworthy that Uzbekistan won the gold medal at the Chess Olympiad for the first time in history.
The national team of Uzbekistan did not lose a single match in the Olympiad.
