04/August/2022 Chairmanship of Uzbekistan in SCO
TASHKENT, August 4. /“Dunyo” IA/. Speaking at the SCO Member States’ Heads of Regions Forum, SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming focused on the development of interaction between the SCO member states in transport and logistics, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
– The development of interaction in transport and logistics is an important working area in building effective cooperation between the SCO regions and contributes to the growth of intraregional trade, the Secretary-General emphasized. – Unfortunately, the global epidemiological crisis has led to a significant reduction in transport links, suspension of passenger traffic, disruption of supply chains, and closure of borders for the free movement of citizens. In this context, there is a growing need to effectively use the transit potential of the SCO, the formation of regional transport and transit corridors that contribute to strengthening connectivity in the relevant area within the organization.
All SCO member states pay special attention to the development of the transport industry. This year, at the SCO Summit in Samarkand, it is planned to adopt the Concept of Cooperation of the SCO Member States to develop connectivity and create efficient transport corridors. At the same time, the parties will intensify talks on a Joint Action Plan to facilitate trade in the SCO region, which will be submitted for signing during the summit. These documents are important for improving the efficiency of multilateral cooperation in transport, and stimulate the development of intraregional trade.
