IAEA to support Uzbekistan’s efforts to create nuclear infrastructure

VIENNA, January 31. /“Dunyo” IA/. On January 29, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Abat Fayzullayev has met with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.


At the meeting, IAEA Director General praised the active dynamics of the organization’s cooperation with Uzbekistan in 2020, despite the pandemic.

It was noted that the IAEA highly appreciates the measures taken in Uzbekistan to develop nuclear technologies, to introduce them into various spheres of the national economy.

Rafael Mariano Grossi noted the particular importance of the upcoming international expert mission to assess the nuclear infrastructure of Uzbekistan and other activities to create a nuclear power program in the country, in connection with which he assured that the Agency will support Uzbekistan’s efforts to create nuclear infrastructure at all stages of its development.
