KUALA LUMPUR, November 3. /Dunyo IA/. A roundtable discussion was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan as part of a visit by an Uzbek delegation led by Mukarram Nurmatova, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women, bringing together compatriots working and studying in Malaysia, reports a Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event was also attended by representatives and coordinators of the World Association of Youth of Uzbekistan in Kuala Lumpur. Mukarram Nurmatova briefed participants on the reforms being implemented to support women and girls both in Uzbekistan and abroad, as well as the additional socioeconomic opportunities created for them.
In particular, the participants noted that women can pursue master’s degrees free of charge, that the state fully covers undergraduate tuition fees for girls from low-income families, and that women seeking to establish or expand their businesses can access interest-free and low-interest loans.
During the event, which was held in an interactive discussion format, around 20 ideas and proposals put forward by Uzbek women living in Malaysia were heard. Most of them focused on launching new IT and startup projects, conducting joint research with research institutions in Uzbekistan, and organizing initiatives to strengthen patriotic values among women.
To ensure systematic support for these initiatives, the participants agreed to establish an Association of Uzbek Women in Malaysia and organize its activities under a cooperation framework involving the Association, the Embassy, and the Committee on Family and Women.
