Delegation of the banks of Uzbekistan visits Pakistan to strengthen financial partnership

KARACHI, April 22. /Dunyo IA/. The Embassy of Uzbekistan organized a visit to Karachi by a working group comprised of representatives from the Central Bank, Asaka Bank, the National Bank, and the Industrial and Construction Bank of our republic, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the visit, the parties agreed on further steps to enhance cooperation with both the State Bank and commercial banks of Pakistan, particularly in establishing partnerships based on digital technologies.
In a meeting with the leadership of the State Bank of Pakistan, discussions focused on collaboration in the areas of trade operations, payment systems, interbank relations, financing of export-import operations, and enhancing the efficiency of international payments to support economic ties between the two countries.
The two sides also exchanged views on fostering cooperation between the central banks of Uzbekistan and Pakistan in the fields of monetary policy, Islamic finance, banking, and digital banking.
Meetings were also held with the management of Pakistan’s leading commercial banks, including Bank Al-Habib Limited, HBL, Meezan Bank, Habib Metropolitan Bank, UBL Bank, Askari Bank, and Soneri Bank. These discussions covered trade-related matters, compliance control procedures, and settlements for export-import transactions between the two nations.
Preliminary agreements were reached on the exchange of SWIFT keys between commercial banks of both countries, increasing the number of correspondent accounts, and promoting the adoption of modern payment methods, such as letters of credit (LC), in mutual settlements between bank clients.
To continue bilateral discussions and explore new areas of cooperation, delegations from the State Bank and commercial banks of Pakistan have been invited to visit Uzbekistan.
