Uzbekistan establishes diplomatic relations with Guinea-Bissau

NEW YORK, April 24. /Dunyo IA/. On April 22, 2026, in New York, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations, Ulugbek Lapasov, and the Head of the Mission of Guinea-Bissau to the UN, Samba Sane, signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The parties expressed a strong mutual interest in strengthening cooperation within international organizations, including the United Nations and its specialized agencies.

An agreement was also reached to intensify engagement in identifying mutually beneficial areas of bilateral cooperation.

The Republic of Guinea-Bissau has thus become the 168th country with which Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations.

It is worth noting that on April 19, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bakhtiyor Saidov, and the Foreign Minister of Rwanda, Olivier Nduhungirehe, signed a Joint Communiqué on the establishment of diplomatic relations in Antalya.
