Uzbekistan’s Athletes Win 55 Medals at Asian Games

• 353AICHI-NAGOYA, October 1. /Dunyo IA/. The 11th day of the 20th Asian Games proved another successful one for Uzbekistan’s delegation, with the country’s athletes winning two gold, two silver, and five bronze medals, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
Notable results came from judo and Greco-Roman wrestling. Judoka Sita Kadamboyeva and Greco-Roman wrestler Aytjan Khalmakhanov won gold medals. Abdurahim Nutfulloyev and Rafael Tsitsuashvili claimed silver medals.
Bronze medals were won by boxers Feruza Kazakova, Sitora Turdibekova and Shavkatjon Boltayev, judoist Samariddin Kuchkorov, and Greco-Roman wrestler Zhalgasbay Berdimuratov.
The total number of medals won by Uzbekistan’s delegation has reached 55 — 16 gold, 20 silver, and 19 bronze.
Uzbek athletes are also achieving important results today. In Greco-Roman wrestling, Alisher Ganiyev defeated opponents from the Philippines, Japan, and Iran to advance to the final.
In judo, Shahram Akhadov defeated opponents from Afghanistan and the Republic of Korea to reach the semifinals. In the next stage, he defeated Japan’s representative in extra time under the “Golden Score” rule to advance to the final. In the final bout, Shahram lost to Kazbek Naguchyev of the United Arab Emirates, finishing his Asian Games campaign with a silver medal.
Judokas Shukurdzhon Aminova and Khurshida Razzoqberdiyeva also secured a number of victories and continued their pursuit of medals. Aminova defeated opponents from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, while Razzoqberdiyeva overcame competitors from Bangladesh and Chinese Taipei.
In canoe slalom, Anvar Klevleyev posted the second-best result to advance to the final. In tennis, Khumoyun Sultanov defeated Chinese Taipei’s representative 7–6, 6–2 to reach the semifinals.
In football, Uzbekistan’s U23 Olympic team drew 1–1 with Japan in the semifinal, before losing 8–9 in a penalty shootout. The team will now face China for the bronze medal on October 3.
Uzbekistan’s athletes are also continuing to compete today in golf, rugby, jiu-jitsu, cycling, canoe slalom, Greco-Roman wrestling, women’s wrestling, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, and volleyball.
