TOKYO, October 30. /Dunyo IA/.  Embassy of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with the Chairman of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), President and CEO of “Kaze Travel Co., Ltd.” Yuji Hara, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

During the conversation, issues of promoting the tourism potential of Uzbekistan in Japan, increasing the flow of Japanese tourists, as well as strengthening cooperation between the tourism companies of the two countries were discussed.

Japanese side noted that the historical cities of Uzbekistan, national culture, and rich gastronomic heritage are of significant interest to Japanese tourists. In addition, a positive assessment was given to the results of the familiarization trip to Uzbekistan organized in June 2026 for Japanese travel companies.

Special attention was paid to cooperation within the framework of the “Tourism EXPO Japan” international tourism exhibition, the promotion of national tourism products of Uzbekistan in the Japanese market and increasing the country's attractiveness for foreign tourists.

Parties noted the importance of expanding direct air service to increase the tourist flow from Japan to Uzbekistan. An exchange of views also took place on further developing tourism ties, strengthening business contacts between tour operators and expanding the exchange of experience.

Japan is one of the promising markets for developing tourism ties with Uzbekistan. In 2025, about 32 thousand citizens of Japan visited Uzbekistan. During January–September 2026, the number of Japanese tourists exceeded 36 thousand people, which is 53.3% more compared to the same period last year.

Following the meeting, parties emphasized the importance of further developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the tourism sector and widely introducing the Japanese public to the tourism potential of our country.
