Romanian Film Days to be held in Tashkent

TASHKENT, December 20. /Dunyo IA/. On December 22–23, Tashkent will host Romanian Film Days as part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
The event, organized by the Embassy of Romania in Tashkent and the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, promises to be a cultural highlight for Uzbek audiences.
The ceremonial opening of Romanian Film Days will take place on December 22 at 17:00 at the Palace of Cinema named after Alisher Navoi (Panorama Cinema, 15 Alisher Navoi Street). Following the opening, the film Warboy (2023) directed by Marian Crișan will be screened. This moving story is set in the autumn of 1944 during World War II, following a teenager named Nicu on a journey through the wild mountains of Romania as he tries to save his family’s horses.
According to the program, on December 23 at 17:00, Horia (2023), directed by Ana-Maria Comănescu, will be shown at the Panorama Cinema. This adventure film tells the story of a teenager traveling across Romania on his father’s old motorcycle. Along the way, he is joined by a 13-year-old girl named Stella, and an unexpected friendship develops between them.
The Embassy of Romania in Uzbekistan invites art lovers to attend the screenings. Admission is free. Both films will be presented in Romanian with Uzbek subtitles.
Romanian Film Days mark the final event celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Uzbekistan (October 6, 1995). In honour of the anniversary, congratulatory letters were exchanged between the Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Romania, the Ambassador of Romania to Uzbekistan, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, delivered a lecture at Tashkent State University of Economics, and an exhibition of paintings and installations titled “Cooperation Between the Republic of Uzbekistan and Romania” was held at the Uzbekistan Academy of Arts.
