“Reuters”: Wildfires cause large-scale evacuations and power disruptions in Eastern Washington State

TASHKENT, August 2. /Dunyo IA/. Wildfires that have affected more than 100,000 hectares in the eastern part of the U.S. state of Washington have led to mass evacuations and power outages in the area of the city of Spokane, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to “Reuters”, on Saturday morning, Governor Bob Ferguson declared a state of emergency across the state and banned open fires. According to officials, there have been no reports of injuries or fatalities caused by the wildfires so far.

“Our state is facing a very serious situation caused by numerous fires”, Ferguson said, noting that strong winds and high temperatures over the weekend are making firefighting efforts more difficult.

In addition to the National Guard, assistance is being provided by firefighters from more than a dozen states.

This summer, wildfires have also become a challenge in other areas of the Pacific Northwest. Last month, around 34,000 lightning strikes caused a series of fires and evacuation orders in the southern part of British Columbia.
