Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan receives the new head of UNICEF Representative Office in our country

TASHKENT, August 29. /Dunyo IA/. Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in our country Regina Maria Castillo, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

"Met with H.E. Regina Maria Castillo, representative of UNICEF in Uzbekistan, – the head of the MFA of Uzbekistan wrote in his telegram channel. – The number and scale of joint projects are on the rise. Indeed, facilitating the best conditions for our boys and girls is the most important investment towards the prosperity of our nation and sustainable development. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will further continue supporting UNICEF in their endeavors to create a better future for our children in partnership with Uzbekistan’s Government".
It is worth recalling that prior to this assignment, Nicaraguan citizen Regina Maria Castillo served as UNICEF Representative in Croatia and Paraguay. Before joining UNICEF in 2016, she worked in the capacity of UNAIDS Country Director for Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru, Chief of Private Sector Partnerships for UNAIDS in Switzerland and Economic and Social Affairs Officer at the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in the United States.
In her new post, she succeeded Munir Mammadzade, who led the Representative Office in Uzbekistan from 2020 to 2023.
