NEW YORK, November 27. /IA "Dunyo"/. The new Consul General of Uzbekistan, Jamil Sharapov, has taken up his duties in New York, reports a "Dunyo" information agency correspondent.

Before that, he worked as Deputy Director of the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is 42 years old. Graduated from the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies (now the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies). Before his appointment to New York, he worked in various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan.
Jamil Sharapov replaced Kamol Ikramov, who headed the Consulate General in New York in 2018–2023.
The consular district of the Consulate General includes the states and administrative territories of the United States: Idaho, Iowa, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming, Washington, Vermont, Virgin Islands, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, California, Kansas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, Montana, Maine, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Mexico, countries of Latin America (except for Cuba and Brazil - included in the consular district of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington).
