TASHKENT, May 16. /"Dunyo" IA/. Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov received the newly appointed Ambassador of Portugal Madalena Fischer, reports "Dunyo" IA correspondent.

"Glad to receive the credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of Portugal to Uzbekistan H.E. Madalena Fischer, – the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan wrote in his telegram channel. – Highlighted the need to elevate our bilateral ties as the current state does not go in line with the big potential we have. Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan–Portugal will be at the forefront of these endeavors. Wish Madam Ambassador a great success in discovering and exploiting untapped opportunities during her diplomatic mission in our country".

It is worth recalling that Uzbekistan and Portugal established diplomatic relations on August 12, 1992. In October last year, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhtiyor Saidov held bilateral negotiations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal João Gomes Cravinho, at which issues of strengthening political dialogue, intensifying and institutionalizing trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as fostering cultural and tourist exchanges were discussed.
