ASTANA, October 16. /Dunyo IA/. From October 24th this year, Kazakhstan will introduce an electronic entry authorization requirement for citizens of certain countries with which it maintains visa-free travel arrangements, reports Dunyo IA correspondent, citing with the “Kazinform” Information Agency.
Under a government resolution, the authorization will be issued free of charge through a digital platform for foreign nationals. Applications must be submitted no later than 72 hours before the intended date of entry, and the authorization will remain valid for 180 calendar days.
System will be introduced in stages. From November 1st, 2026, it will apply at Aktau International Airport and four road border crossing points: “Urlyutobe” in Pavlodar Region, “Aukhatti” in Zhambyl Region, “Atameken” in Turkistan Region and “Nurly Zhol” in Zhetisu Region. From January 1, 2027, the requirement will be extended to the airports of Astana and Almaty, and from March 1, 2027, to all remaining border crossing points along Kazakhstan’s state border.
Until July 1st, 2027, foreign nationals will not be denied entry solely because they do not have an electronic authorization.
Existing visa-free stay limits will remain unchanged. For example, citizens of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan and the Republic of Korea will be allowed to stay in Kazakhstan for up to 30 days per visit, subject to a maximum of 90 days within any 180-day period.
Exemptions from the authorisation requirement will apply, among others, to children under the age of 16, persons aged 65 and older, holders of valid Kazakh visas and residence permits, diplomats, members of official delegations and several other categories of foreign nationals.
In addition, Kazakhstan has proposed checking the legality of foreign nationals’ and stateless persons’ stay in the country when issuing individual identification numbers (IINs).
