Water Use Restrictions introduced across more than two-thirds of France

TASHKENT, August 11. /Dunyo IA/. Restrictions on water use have been introduced across 70 percent of French territory due to drought, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to Agence France-Presse, the pressure on water resources is caused by severe drought.

“While France is experiencing particularly severe drought, the impacts of climate change continue to exacerbate pressure on water resources. Restrictions on water use are in effect across nearly 70 percent of France”, the agency quotes the French Ministry for Ecological Transition as saying.

The highest crisis level has been declared in 67 departments of the republic due to water shortages, while a heightened alert level is in effect in another 21 departments.

At the crisis level, water use is permitted only for healthcare, civil security, drinking water supply and sanitation needs. At the heightened alert level, restrictions are imposed on watering gardens and green spaces, filling swimming pools, washing cars and irrigating agricultural crops.
