Round table discussion dedicated to Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage held in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI, April 24. /Dunyo IA/. A round table discussion titled "Role of Uzbekistan in UNESCO initiatives and Cooperation with the UAE for Sustainable Development" was held at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in the UAE, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by representatives from various UAE ministries and organizations, over 30 diplomatic missions, academic and scientific circles, the leadership of the Diplomatic Academy, faculty and students, media representatives, and a delegation from Uzbekistan led by the rector of Bukhara State University, Obidjon Khamidov.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the Director-General of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy, Nikolay Mladenov. In his remarks, speaker emphasized that the event was taking place at a particularly significant time, following the successful visit of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Abu Dhabi in January, and ahead of the upcoming visit of the President of the UAE to Uzbekistan. He noted that the high-level visits demonstrate the rapidly developing cooperation between the two countries.
In this context, the decision to hold the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Assembly in Samarkand in October-November of this year was hailed as a major diplomatic achievement for Uzbekistan’s leadership.
Nikolay Mladenov specifically highlighted Uzbekistan’s accomplishments in preserving and widely promoting its historical monuments, culture, and traditions.
In his opinion, Uzbekistan is now a very important member of UNESCO, as the country possesses values to be proud of — culture, education, and science. It was also emphasized that the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy is ready to closely cooperate with the Uzbek side in the successful organization of the UNESCO event in Samarkand.
During the event, guests had the opportunity to explore the rich history, national values, and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan. National dances and music complemented the presentation of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage, as well as the rich traditions and values of the Uzbek people.
As part of the event, a photo exhibition showcasing Uzbekistan's architectural landmarks and folk crafts was organized. Uzbek cuisine, which is included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage, and its unique flavors also impressed and delighted all the participants.
